Failure to collect a Child
It essential for the well-being of the child they are picked up at the correct time. Children are very sensitive to changes in their routine; therefore, we ask our parents/carers to telephone us in the event they may be late. This allows us to explain the situation to the child and plan for their care. Should no contact be made the following procedure will apply.
In the event of child not being collected 15 minutes after the due time all contact numbers for the parents/carers will be rung, to discover when the child will be collected. If we are unable to contact the parents/carers we will then call the emergency contact numbers. Should arrangements be made for a person not known the staff to collect the child password procedures will be used. If we are still not able to contact a person listed on the registration form, and the child has not been collected after 30 minutes of the due time, the manager will telephone Bexley Emergency Duty Service and carry out their instructions. Under no circumstances is any member of staff allowed to take the child from the setting. We charge a fee of £5.00 for every 15 minutes or part 15 minutes a child is collected late.​
