Image Capturing Equipment

Our policy regarding the use of personal equipment that captures images to produce photographs, to download, or ‘post’ on social media in our setting reflects our intention to safeguard the children in our care.  Unfortunately, it is now too easy for people to take surreptitious photographs of children and download them onto the internet.  With this in mind we have taken the decision to not allow the use of any such equipment anywhere in the pre-school building.

Visitors, including parents and carers, who use their phones whilst inside our premises will be asked to turn them off immediately, or leave the premises.

Staff are expected to turn off their phones, and any personal equipment capable of capturing images such as, iPad, or iPod and surrender them to the manager until they leave.  The pre-school telephone number may be given as a contact number in cases of emergency, and should a staff member wish to use their mobile phone during their lunch break, they can only do so in areas of the pre-school where there are no children present.  Any staff member found using their phone in the setting, where children are present, will be subject to disciplinary action.

Only the pre-schools own camera and memory card is allowed to be used to record images of the children for the sole purpose of recording the children’s development for the observation process, with prior permission of the parents/carers and must not be removed from the setting.

The only exception to the above is the occasions when we invite parents/carers into the setting to join us in a celebration, for example the Christmas party.  When we allow parents/carers to take photographs of their children ONLY, and staff with permission.
